Tigres Polo champions of Aberto do Estado de São Paulo
Tigres Polo won Brazilian main tournament, after defeating Maragata Julius Baer by 12-8 in final match of 86º Aberto do Estado de São Paulo. Champions had Pedrinho Zacharias, Sylvinho Coutinho, Aluísio Villela and Chico Junqueira. Runner-up team played with Willian Rodrigues (replaced by João Gaspar Bastos after injury during the game), Ignatius du Plessis, Luiz Paulo Bastos and Cachico Bastos.
Pedrinho Zacharias was awarded as best player of the match, while Venera (played by Aluísio Villela and property of Hípica Polo) won as the best playing pony.

On June 12th, Tigres Polo got their first high handicap trophy of this season: Aberto do Helvetia 22-goals. Championship finished with a Golden Goal by Chico Junqueira, confirming Tigres Polo’s win by 12-11 against Maragata Julius Baer.
Ubajara Andrade, from Maragata Julius Baer was best player of the match. Open Café, played by Ignatius du Plessis and property of Cabeto Bastos was the best playing pony of tournament’s final.

30jardas Brazil Polo Ranking
Pedrinho Zacharias is the new leader of 30jardas Brazil Polo Ranking. Not only he added points from Special Series and 1000 Series tournament, he also won extra points after his best player award on Aberto do Estado de São Paulo.

Estância Felicidade are the winners of Copa Prata, a 10-goals tournament at Helvetia Polo Country Club (Indaiatuba, São Paulo). Team squad had Bernardo Klabin, Guiga Lins, Ubajara Andrade and Bernardino Pucci Neto. They defeated Invernada (Beto D. Junqueira, Lincoln D. Junqueira, Luiz D. Junqueira and Gon Matarazzo) in the final match by 11-10.

Runner-up of Queen’s Cup, Agustin Merlos, from La Indiana, was interviewed by 30jardas. He shared his thoughts about teammates: “Michael Bickford is a strategist and focused player, opening spaces so we can carry the ball. Nic is “an animal”, one of the strongest players of the current scenario. Julian de Lusaretta has an amazing ball control for his age. He’s a very good forward and scores a lot of goals”.
He also commented his expectations for Gold Cup: “Our goal is to win it”.

We interviewed Fiona Turney, director of FIP World Championship 2017. She explained more of the tournament held at Sydney, Australia, in October of the next year: “Eight teams will play here. Our goal is to receive as many polo enthusiasts as we can”.
Fiona Turney briefly told us current scenario of Polo in Australia: “There are around 800 players in Australia and there is clearly a recent development. Australian player with higher handicap currently is Glen Gilmore (7-goals)”.
